Tendulkar is also the only batsman to score a
double-century in one-day cricket, making 200 not out against South
Africa in Gwalior earlier this year. His next assignment for the
top-ranked Indian team is a two-Test home series against Australia,
starting on October 1.
NEW DELHI: After almost three years of
an unproductive association, the Indian Air Force has dropped Sachin
Tendulkar as its brand ambassador.
A report in India Today
stated that the IAF had decided to replace the legendary cricketer with
its trainer aircraft ‘Pilatus’, pictures of which would now be used to
attract youngsters to a life in the air.
Tendulkar had been
appointed to the rank of Group Captain in September 2010 in honour of
his stupendous achievements on the field.
He thus became the first civilian to be accorded the honor.
But the partnership between two iconic institutions of India failed to yield the desired fruit, leading to the Air Force to sever ties with Tendulkar.
'Pilatus' planes are currently being trained on by pilots in Hyderabad. |
