Rising Star‘s Grand Finale aired today. After months of entertaining us with its unique live audience engagement format, the interactive singing reality show finally got its first winner tonight in Bannet Dosanjh. He beat Ankita Kundu and Maithili Thakur to win the coveted title. Along with a cash prize of worth Rs 20 Lakh and Rising Star’s trophy, he will also get the golden opportunity to debut as a playback singer in Mahesh Bhatt-led Vishesh Films’ next venture. He earned real-time votes with his singing. Anil Kapoor, who came to launch the DVD of the second season of his popular TV series 24, spiked the grand finale’s excitement quotient with his entry.
The episode began with Kapoor’s performance where all the three finalists joined them. Ankita Kundu was the first one to perform. She sang Taal’s popular song – Kahin Aag Lage, which was a song selected by the viewers through a poll conducted by the channel.
